Earth Day sees many expos and fairs and this year was no exception.  BikeABQ is typically asked to participate in many of these activities and yesterday board members were at three different events. This Ghost Bike joins other signs as a reminder of the consequences of unsafe driving.
Cyclists as well as the fast moving east bound traffic all need to use caution.
An underpass for the bike path at this intersection, as well as Candelaria and Menaul, is in the works, but is about two years out.  Stay safe!

Watch this weekend for a third ghost bike for Roy Sekreta on the north diversion channel trail at Comanche.  The ghost bikes will keep coming despite the city’s reluctance to work with me on their placement.

BikeABQ has had a whirlwind of activity surrounding May, which is Bike Month.  We had a spectacular showing at the Bike Swap, greeted all sorts of cyclists at Bike to Work Day, and mourned our fallen brothers and sisters on the Ride of Silence.

Effective immediately, BikeABQ is dissolving its status as a nonprofit advocacy group.
In short, the board could not with a clear conscious dismiss the overwhelming data that driving is faster, safer, and ultimately more stylish than creeping along in brightly colored spandex.
