Infrastructure Advocacy

We envision an Albuquerque where safe, interconnected trails allow citizens easy access to the entire city.

At this point we will see the Silver Bike Boulevard to completion and participate actively in the creation of the next 10-year comprehensive on-street bicycle plan for Albuquerque, which will be done by Alta Planning & Design.

City Government & APD Partnerships

We plan to strengthen our ties to the Greater Albuquerque Bicycle Advisory Committee that advises the Mayor.

We are looking into working with the Albuquerque Police Department to provide funding for Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash specialization certification for officers in the Crash Investigation unit of the Motor Division.

Bike-Friendly Business Program

Piggy-backing on the League of American Bicyclists' Bike Friendly Business program, BikeABQ will encourage and offer incentives to businesses in the Albuquerque metro area.

Our first phase is to explore what ABQ cyclists value in a bike friendly business through a forum, surveys, and conversations. If you have an opinion, email Angelina at angelina.m.lopez[at]gmail[dot]com with your thoughts.

Then we will approach local businesses and offer them our expertise to become bike friendly for both employees and customers. We will introduce businesses to the League's program and offer our own set qualifications to determine BikeABQ bike-friendly status.

We plan to have a celebration bash next year for those businesses who have received the status and to publicize them through a bike-friendly business guide available at libraries, health-food stores, bike shops, etc...
