Individual
The list of reasons to support BikeABQ and our mission is endless. Some want to see our city become a better place to ride a bicycle because it's fun, convenient, inexpensive, and good for your health.
For others, it's the positive effect that active transportation infrastructure has on land use policy, housing affordability, and climate change. And for some, well, they just want to see all the cars slow down and drive safer.

Family
By making Albuquerque a better place to ride a bicycle, we're making Albuquerque a better place to raise a family.
Of course, most parents are aware that traffic fatalities are among the top causes of death for children and young people. But the benefits of good active transportation infrastructure go far beyond just basic safety.
When your community is designed with bicycle safety and comfort in mind, kids are able to develop a sense of independence, stay physically fit, and have more fun.
There's tons of benefits for parents too, like possibly saving thousands of dollars per year by going from a two car household to a one car household. Oh, and all the precious time that parents can save from driving their kids everywhere probably counts for something too.
Business
What does bicycling have to do with business? Well, a lot actually. Studies have shown that bicycle lanes generally improve business, particularly when built around food and retail establishments. When properly designed, bicycle lanes also act as traffic calming devices for automobiles meaning that your area of business will be safer and people may be more likely to slow down and see your store frontage.
There's a reason that the board of BikeABQ has multiple small business owners on it. Ask any of them and they'll tell you how transformational good bicycle infrastructure would be for their business.
